Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were politely greeted by our server, Michiko, who offered us a choice of tables, either inside or outisde. She was very helpful in explaining the various menu items and although the dish I wanted was not available that evening, she offered well-suited alternatives which my bother from San Jose, my sister from Las Vegas, and I, from the Torrance area willingly accepted. The food was delicious and the portions were ample. Brother had spaghetti and meatballs and sister and I split the chicken Tagliata Alla Cream Di Fungi. We were not rushed at all and Michiko was attentive to our questions and needs. After a long drive from the Torrance area, everything turned out excellent. The food, the location and especially our server, Michiko, were all first class. Steven P
There's something quite authentic about this place. I find the pasta sauces really great, as are the fresh pastas. It's a nice place to unwind after a long week - it's not stuffy, just friendly and unpretentious, and delicious. For some reason I find the wines a bit underwhelming and the menu itself is a bit limiting - so if you're not in the mood for pasta you're a bit stuck. But if you're craving a fill of pasta you can't go wrong
When we think of standout Italian restaurants in Los Angeles, the usual suspects come to mind. We all know the names. They are chic, expensive, in impossibly tawny neighborhoods, with the same dishes they have served for decades. That's what we like about them, right? And want to be seen in them and say we have been there. That is exactly what is wrong with them too, and why La Pergoletta really "gets" Italian food, including the quality of the ingredients, the care that goes into the preparation of each dish, and the sensibility of the culture that created the most popular cuisine in the world. The location and the look of this neighborhood treasure are rather unprepossessing (in fact, my only recommendation is that they take another look at the entry -- it could use a bit of refreshing to make a better statement about what is to come). Once you get past that, you start to see why people rave about it. Inside, it is reminiscent of many little places I have seen in Italy, and some I love in New York and elsewhere in LA (and have reviewed some of them). The decor is quaint, warm, culturally authentic, and charming. Everything is very clean. The welcome is effusive, as if they truly are honored that people have chosen to dine there. The menu is astonishing. In addition to copious excellent choices, there are items you don't see every day. As, for example, polenta -- cooked to perfection here, as good as any Nona could make it. Or filled gnocchi -- how often do you see that? In fact, we are lucky to see gnocchi at all! One of my litmus tests for an Italian eatery is the quality and accuracy of the gnocchi. La Pergoletta knocks it out of the park. Here's another thing I love about it. You get to choose among a dozen or so homemade pastas and then combine them with a dozen or so sauces. The bread is unusual, with a tender crumb, and crispy crust, again made in house by someone who knows how to make bread (not easy). The salad is put together carefully with fresh greens. There are a half dozen or so Italian desserts to choose from. The coffee? Lavazza, of course, the best! We went on a torrid afternoon where the mercury read 103F and rising, not typical in Los Feliz. That enabled us to really absorb the vibes of the place, which started filling up as the afternoon aged. As people came in, they got the same royal welcome. The prices are very reasonable, the portions are ample without being overwhelming (hence, we took three boxes home). Notice the Limonata? That's the kind of soda Italians actually drink -- not our chemical laden pretenders. Btw, there is a deli attached so you can come in and get things to take home every day except Sunday. Now, how great is that? Come on an empty stomach so you can sample as many delicacies here as possible. I know I will have to return again and again to try everything I wanted on that menu. Skip the famous places, come here to get a real 5-star meal.
La Pergoletta is my favorite Italian restaurant in the city! We always choose this place when it's a special occasion, or if I'm craving Italian! It's also great for just having a relaxed lunch with friends or family. It's super cute on the inside side and the outside is very comfortable. I'm so happy they kept the extra outside space even after covid. I've met the owner and chef a few times and he's always so nice and welcoming.
I've been going here for a couple years with my family but just recently took my boyfriend and he loved it. The ambiance of the restaurant is so cozy and warm and the food is some of the best :)
If I could I would rate this place more than 5 stars! I first came here five years ago during a visit to LA, and I'm pleased to say that it was as amazing as I remembered. The ambiance was extremely comfortable and homey. We went for dinner time, so there were candles and low lighting to create a romantic atmosphere. Our waiters were awesome and knowledgeable about the menu, even offering to explain the items to us if we wished. For starters, they gave us fluffy, hot bread served with oil and balsamic vinegar (just a note that if you would like extra bread it costs $3). We ordered two of the specials, the first being Arancini, four fried risotto balls with tomato sauce on the side. Wonderfully crispy and gooey on the inside. As explained to us, the pastas are handmade, never dried or stored, and you can "build your own plate" with the type of pasta, sauce, and protein. I decided on the Gnocchi Ripieni, which was stuffed with Parmesan, mozzarella, Gorgonzola, Pecorino Romano, and Panna & Funghi, a creamy mushroom sauce. As incredible as the fluffy, cheesy gnocchis were, the star of the show for me was the second special we ordered, which was the Smoked Salmon Cream Pasta (Farfalle Al Salmone Affumicato). This dish was absolutely sensational, each bite of pasta being complimented by pieces of cooked smoked salmon and peas, covered in a smooth cream sauce. Would 100% recommend if this is a special during your visit here! With the spectacular food, service, and environment combined, this restaurant is hands down my favorite Italian spot I've tried!
Love this hidden gem! We went before a concert at the Greek and was so impressed! It doesn't look like much from the outside but don't let that fool you! The bread, pasta and wine are all unbelievable. We just returned from a trip to Italy....and this is the closest we have come to similar cuisine. We had pappardella with filet mignon and the carbonara....both fantastic. The steak was cooked to perfection. They have real menus too if you have trouble with the QR code. We sat I side due to the heat (it was over 100 outside) but both areas are very cute and Italian. Our server was fantastic! We will definitely be back.
Great service and good food I really enjoyed their lunch special with an additional order The Minestrone itself could be better but the foccacia had the perfect crunch, it was served with olive oil and basalmic vinegar The Polpetti comes in a portion of 3, very flavorful rich sauce soft pairs very well with parmesan cheese perfect for an apperitive Parpadelle ai fungi very earthy and rich in creamy sauce, Near perfect bite overall good just a tad too salty otherwise quite lovely for a lunch meal
This place has been on my list for years and I'm so happy I went. Amazing experience and food. First off- I love the easy res system through Yelp. I was able to walk right in at my time. Also I like that they texted me beforehand asking for my preference to be inside of outside. We chose outside on their cute patio area. Now to the food. Everything was so good! Loved the free focaccia while we waited for our food. We ordered two main dishes- fusilli with ragu bolognese ($19.95) and pappardelle bosciola ($24.95) with a side of filet mignon ($16). Everything was great but the pappardelle and steak combo was so delicious! Seriously one of the best Italian dishes I've ever had.. and I've visited Italy! We had to leave room for dessert so we got the panne cotte with Nutella ($6.95) and cannoli ($6.95). If you are a chocolate fan the panne cotte is so good! I also did takeout before with this restaurant... their paninis are incredible too! They also have a great lunch special I want to try. I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying more things on the menu!
Ambiance: Casual Italian Service: Great Food: Delicioso I could eat their HAND-MADE pasta all day. It's so soft, delicious, and never sits heavy after a meal. Pastas: I would recommend their Alfredo, Pesto Alla Genovese, Panna & Funghi, and Ragu Bolognese. Starters: Bruschetta di Burrata, Arancini, and their Pergoletta Salad. Other dishes: 10oz meatballs. Parking: Lot/Street Tips: Parking can be difficult. I would recommend arriving a little earlier and wearing comfy shoes in case you need to park in a residential area and walk over. There's plenty of residential parking available.
